There is good richness yet also good refinement to the generously proportioned flavors that exude a fine bead of minerality on the beautifully persistent finish
A hint of herbal tea sits atop the earthier aromas of essence of red berries that are not quite as ripe though they are a bit spicier
The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and well judged acidity
the wine is medium to full-bodied and framed by ripe tannins that feel somewhere between velvet and silk on the lingering finish
A silky texture sets the pace for black cherry
d'Arenberg, Dead Arm Shiraz Vintage:2001 There is good richness yetThe first foot trodden vintage. Harvested 28 February to 28 March following a hot January, dry summer and autumn. Of its era, blackcurrant fruit gums and sweet blackberry fruit are front and centre, with a lick of boot polish, mint and sage aromas and a peppery finish. Initially rich and velvety with charred oak which is a touch dry and starting to penetrate the viscosity. Lacks the structure and nuance of more recent vintages.
